How many sessions will I need to accomplish my goals?
It could be 1 or it could be several. Often, what seems like a simple goal could get broken down into many smaller contributing objectives. As part of the coaching agreement, the coach and client agree on the goal and amount of time to spend on this.

How long is a session?
Sessions are scheduled for 50-60 minutes

How often do sessions occur?
There are typically 3 session scheduled per 4week period. Ie: 3 sessions per month. It is preferred that the client and coach pick a consistent day and time.

It is not necessary to live in Austin.  I am available in person and I also coach via virtual meetings (zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting, etc) or over the phone.

What goals do you coach on?
Virtually anything that the client is comfortable discussing and that meet the ICF Code of Ethics.https://www.life-matters-coaching.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/icf_ethical_guidelines.pdf

How do I know if coaching is right for me?
The coach will provide several assessments covering different aspect of your life including one that will determine how coachable you are.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching and therapy can make excellent adjuncts to one another since they each support the client in a different manner. With coaching, the client has a clear idea of what they want to achieve within a designated time frame and the coach partners with the client to achieve this goal. With therapy, the therapist creates a treatment plan for the client with an open ended time frame and the therapist guides the client through a diagnostic process.

How do I choose which goal to get coached on?
The assessments referenced in the previous FAQ will provide good insight on where you may want to focus. This is also part of the consultation discussion.

What can I expect in a coaching session?
In life coaching, the client owns the agenda (what you want to accomplish) and the coach owns the process. It is not the role of the life coach to provide advice, direct the conversation or project their thoughts, ideas and judgements. As a spiritual life coach, I am trained to operate from my most authentic self. I will provide a trusting environment where I am 100% present and focused on you and your goal. If requested, the life coach will work with the client to brainstorm idea’s, provide accountability and assure the actions identified are leading to the accomplishment of the goal.

What happens between coaching sessions?
Typically, the client will have some actions to complete or some form of homework prior to the next session.

Can I contact the life coach between sessions?
Yes. It’s common to have contact through text, email or phone conversation so long as all professional courtesy is being extended. Professional courtesy would include the amount of time given, reasonable hours of the day, etc.
